Asha's Indian Bar and Restaurant
As the latest addition to legendary Bollywood singer Asha Bhosle’s empire, Birmingham has its very own ‘Brimful of Asha’ right here on Newhall Street. The restaurant recently won awards from the British Curry and Taste awards and continues to impress local foodies and celebrity curry connoisseurs. Whether you’re craving succulent meats from their specialty kebab menu or their authentic seafood and vegetarian dishes; Asha’s extensive menu never fails to impress. The bar serves up excellent signature cocktails and we recommend leaving room for traditional desserts like sweet carrot halwa. The restaurant is a large and stylish space – perfect for business lunches, dinner dates and birthday celebrations.

Chilli and Spice
Hall Green’s unusual Chilli and Spice brings together two very diverse worlds – the Indian restaurant and the British public house. The combination, of course, works well with the large Horseshoe pub giving over a section of its rather glamorously modern interior to the flavours of Asia. Stunningly appointed, Chilli and Spice feels like an elegant, sophisticated restaurant and appropriate for romantic dining as much as for a quick curry with friends. With a pedigree straight from five star hotels of India and Dubai, the Chilli and Spice kitchen knows its way around a spice rack, offering a wide selection of excellent Indian dishes freshly prepared using extremely good ingredients.

Itihaas
Itihaas restaurant in Birmingham is one stunning eaterie. This beautiful restaurant —the name means ‘history’ -- is the £2 million brainchild of businessman Raj Rana and it’s been raking in awards since it opened its doors. The décor is contemporary meets traditional with two dining rooms honouring colonial and maharaja eras – there are slate finished walls, original paintings, carved stone elephants, Jali marble window frames like those found in Mogul palaces and elegant black sari-clad hostesses. Chef Amardeep Saka offers intriguing dishes influenced by North India, Mumbai, Chinese fusion and Kenya. The cuisine and service are royal, yet the ambience is relaxed and informal – a history-making combination in anyone’s book.

Monsoon Restaurant
Monsoon is a modern, spicy Indian eatery with a soothing décor and upmarket crowd. We love the simple dining room with its Spanish tiled floors, whitewashed walls and giant abstract canvases. Monsoon has a nice bar for pre/post dinner drinks – and is popular for animated nights out with friends. The menu is superb – we recommend the South Indian mussels cooked in curry sauce sprinkled with coriander and lime; the red mullet marinated in red chilli and aubergine sauce; and Monsoon's signature melt-in-your-mouth lamb shank served with pilau rice and fresh coriander. The wine list is excellent and reasonably priced, with up to 8 wines available by the glass.
